Every Scout in Troop 174 is required to undertake some position of responsibilityin the Troop or in his Patrol. If a Scout doesn't help, then some other Scout must pick up the slack. To be an active member of Troop 174 you must be either in a patrol or a Troop Officer. To be active in a Patrol you must be able to meet at least twice a month for planning, fun and advancement.
