WHO
CAN JOIN

Any boy who is 11 to 17 and will do his best to live by the Scout Oath and Law.
(While the Troop is sponsored by the Methodist Men's fellowship,
the Troop is open to boys of any religion.)

OUR
SPONSOR

We are proud to be sponsored by the Methodist Men's Fellowship of the Paradise Hills United Methodist Church. They provide the Troop with excellent meeting facilities and outstanding support.

TROOP ORGANIZATION

The Scouts of Troop 174 are divided into several Patrols of 5-8 boys to give more of an opportunity to develop leadership skills. Our Troop is boy led by the Senior Patrol Leader, who works with the Patrol Leaders to plan and carry out the Troop programs.

The Adult Leaders (Scoutmaster and Assistants) are there to train the boy leaders and provide supervision and support for the Scouts.

The Troop is also backed by a Committee of Parents who provide support for the programs planned by the boy leaders.

BENEFITS
OF
SCOUTING

Troop 174's program is planned and led by the Scouts, and it is guaranteed to keep a boy as busy and active as he wants. Centered strongly around camping and the outdoors, the Troop program offers an opportunity for boys to experience the following:
  • Make long lasting friendships
  • Develop strength and self-confidence
  • Learn to work with others
  • Learn Leadership Skills
  • Have adult leaders of exceptional character
  • Have many fun and exciting adventures
"There are costs and risks to a program of action, but they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction."
John F. Kennedy (1917 - 1963) 35th U.S. President
